About Campsite Review

Campsite Review is a free and (largely) complete UK campsite directory and review website.

Our aim at Campsite Review is to offer completely independant reviews. To achieve this, we do not charge campsite owners to update their details. We do not have a facility for campsite owners to moderate the reviews for their campsites. All reviews are moderated for language and fairness by the website administrator.

Please make use of this website and let us know how we may improve via the Forum

Who is Campsite Review?

campsite-review.co.uk was founded in September 2009 by me, Mark Land, an experienced Website Developer. I graduated in 1988 with a Degree in Computer Science and worked in the Telecoms industry for many years before moving into Database and Web Application development. I have worked for Goss Interactive, Nexus Open Software and the NHS. I worked as Software Developer at Derriford Hospital and later in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Theatres in Truro as a Health Care Support Worker. This website is run from South-East Cornwall, which allows me to pursue my major hobby - Surfing.

Camping and the Outdoors

I have camped in the New Forest, Lake District, Scotland and a lot in Devon and Cornwall. I love the outdoors and nature, I have at one time been a keen cyclist, bird-watcher, long distance walker and surfer. I have worked in Croyde, North Devon at Ruda Holiday Park and spent a year living in Braunton. This year I have spent six months in Newquay, Cornwall above Fistral Beach. I love sand dunes and forest and the sea.

Technology

The website is developed using Open Source technologies on Linux, Apache Web Servers. I started programming on BSD Unix at Kingston Polytechnic in 1984, then rediscoved my love of Unix under Apple's OSX. I am currently using Ubuntu Linux and Apple iMac for development. Thanks also to VmWare, so that I may run Internet Explorer!

This is an iPhone friendly website.
