after agreeing a price over the telephone with the lady in charge we headed up, however upon arrival the price had gone up.
the owner blamed overheads, I pointed out we had agreed a price the day before but he told us we hadn't asked him for a price.
we reluctantly pitched and went out walking for the day.
when we returned it was getting dark so I called to the house for a shower token (£2).
there is no lighting in either the toilet or shower block so I had to shower by torch light... luckily the token only lasted a couple of minutes.
I headed back to the tent where my partner was in discussion with the woman that runs the site about having a fire to cook on. she was insisting we had to hire a fire pit from them and we could only burn their logs even though we had a more than adequate firepit and wood to burn.
we had no choice but to agree as it was getting late and our son was in bed.
£10 for the hire and a bag of very green logs.
I took some of our dry wood from the car to get the fire started and the woman came over for an argument about it, I tried to explain that we couldn't simply light a wet log and would need to establish some sort of flame before adding the logs.
her answer- please leave the site!
I explained that we had a child in bed but would be gone first thing in the morning to which she reluctantly agreed.
later on we had run out of logs so decided we would risk burning some of our own wood...
she was obviously close by and came over within 2 mins of putting the wood on and poured a bucket of water on the fire, she was furious! shouting right in my face and spitting as she shouted.
6am, packed up and got out.
the night cost us £41 with pitching, fire and shower.
just don't do it.
